Extended Care: A Patchwork of Possibilities

What is your plan for health care during retirement?

This video shows the importance of thinking about health care when you get older, especially after you retire. It tells us that about 7 out of 10 people who are 65 years old will need extra health care at some point. That’s a lot of people, so it’s really important to start planning early.

By the year 2030, there will be about 10 million older folks dealing with big health problems, and we need to keep that in mind. Also, since women usually live about 5 years longer than men, they especially need to think about how they’ll take care of themselves later on.

Health care costs a lot of money these days. Americans are spending millions every year on it. But the good news is, there are several ways to prepare for these costs. You could get insurance, add special options to your life insurance, use fixed annuities, or just save up a bunch of money. The trick is to figure out how to make all these options work well together for you.

The video suggests talking over your plans with your family and getting advice from a financial expert. This way, you can make a plan that keeps you comfortable and safe for as long as you need.
